Our promise

What “14-Free” actually means.

The FDA recognizes 9 major food allergens. We go five further. Every product we make is free from 14 of the most common allergens — and we make them in a facility that has never touched any of them. No shared lines. No “may contain” disclaimers. No cross-contact hiding in someone else’s supply chain.

01

One facility, one mission.

We built our own plant in Johnston, Rhode Island so the 14 allergens we exclude never enter the building — not on a shared line, not on shared equipment, not in a shared supply chain.

02

Dry roasted, never fried.

No oil, no shared fryers, no carrier ingredients. Dry roasting gives our seeds their flavor without adding anything to the label — and keeps them fresh longer than oil-roasted alternatives.

03

Trusted by schools & camps.

Families managing severe food allergies, school nurses, and summer camp directors choose Gerbs because every bag is made the same way, every time. Predictable safety, batch after batch.

The Gerbs story.

It started with pumpkin seeds.

In 2003, brothers Sennen and Galen Conte roasted a single batch of seasoned pumpkin seeds for a Halloween party in Rhode Island. They had no plan to start a company. Then families managing severe food allergies started reaching out, looking for snacks they could trust.

The mission became clear: this wasn’t going to be about making great food. It was going to be about creating a safer way to snack.

So we built our own facility.

The existing manufacturing options weren’t built with allergen control in mind. Shared lines, shared equipment, shared supply chains. So we built our own — from scratch — in Johnston, Rhode Island.

Today every product is dry-roasted in small batches, in a facility that has never processed any of the 14 allergens we exclude. We control sourcing, roasting, packaging, and shipping ourselves, so the chain of custody is unbroken from seed to sealed bag.

Sourcing with intention.

We choose growers and suppliers the same way our customers choose us — by reading labels, asking hard questions, and refusing to compromise. Close relationships with trusted producers give us access to premium ingredients most manufacturers can’t source, and let us verify every input.

Every sourcing decision is guided by purpose, not convenience — because that’s what families managing food allergies deserve.

Trusted by families, schools, and camps since 2003.

Common questions

Things families ask before they order.

What does “14-Free” mean?

Every product in our catalog is made in a facility that has never processed any of the 14 most common food allergens. We don’t run them on shared lines because there are no shared lines — we don’t have them in the building at all.

Each product page lists the specific allergen statement for that product. If you have a question about a specific allergen, give us a call at (401) 231-5181 or email [email protected].

What does “dry roasted” mean — and why does it matter?

Dry roasting uses heat alone — no oil, no shared fryers, no carrier ingredients. It’s how we get our flavor without adding anything to the label, and it’s part of why our seeds keep longer than oil-roasted alternatives.

Where are Gerbs products made?

Are Gerbs products kosher certified?

Yes — our entire product line is kosher certified. Look for the certification on every product page.

Do you sell to schools, camps, and institutions?

Yes. Schools and camps managing food-allergy policies are a core part of who we serve. For bulk orders, see our wholesale page or reach out to [email protected].

Can I subscribe and save on regular orders?

Yes — subscription is available on most products. Set your cadence, skip a shipment any time, and cancel any time. Look for “Subscribe & Save” on any product page.
