Introducing Gerbs Dried Sweetened Cherries

Dried cherries are sweet, chewy, nutrient-packed fruits made by removing moisture from fresh cherries, concentrating their natural sugars and flavor. Rich in antioxidants (like anthocyanins), fiber, potassium, and melatonin, they’re a healthy snack that supports sleep, reduces inflammation, aids muscle recovery, and boosts immunity, perfect for eating solo, in trail mix, oatmeal, baked goods, salads, or with cheese.

Dried cherries are made by removing most of the water from fresh cherries through a dehydration process, typically using a food dehydrator or a low-heat oven, after washing, pitting, and sometimes halving them to speed up drying. This concentrates their sugars, creating a smaller, chewier, and long-lasting fruit, with commercial versions sometimes getting a shiny look from added oils or chemicals, while homemade ones are often just pure fruit.

Dried cherries are a nutrient-dense snack packed with antioxidants (anthocyanins), fiber, vitamins (C, A, E), and minerals (potassium, iron, copper, magnesium) that support heart health, reduce inflammation, boost immunity, aid digestion, and improve sleep due to their natural melatonin content, making them great for muscle recovery and energy.

Dried Sweetened Premium USA Grade Cherries, Resealable Bag

Key Nutritional Benefits:

  • Antioxidant Powerhouse: Rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols that fight inflammation, reduce oxidative stress, and protect cells from damage, potentially lowering risks for chronic diseases.
  • Heart Health: Potassium helps regulate blood pressure, while antioxidants and fiber may lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and support overall cardiovascular function.
  • Muscle Recovery & Pain Relief: Anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants help reduce muscle soreness and joint pain, favored by athletes.
  • Improved Sleep: A natural source of melatonin, which helps regulate sleep patterns, promoting deeper, more restful sleep.
  • Immune Support: High in Vitamin C and other immune-boosting nutrients, strengthening the body’s defenses.
  • Digestive Health: Good source of dietary fiber, promoting regularity and gut health; sorbitol provides a mild laxative effect.
  • Essential Minerals: Provide potassium (muscle function, blood pressure), iron (energy), copper, calcium, and magnesium.
  • Natural Energy: Concentrated natural sugars offer quick, efficient energy, balanced by fiber.

Enjoy dried cherries by adding them to oatmeal, yogurt, salads, smoothies, trail mix, or baked goods like muffins and cookies for a sweet-tart boost, or even use them in savory dishes with poultry/pork for a flavor pop. They’re great as a simple snack, paired with dark chocolate, or rehydrated for sauces and pies, offering fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins to your diet.

How to properly store Gerbs products for optimum shelf life.

Storage Recommendations

For the best flavor and freshness, we recommend storing your Gerbs in an airtight container in a cool, dark place such as a pantry or kitchen cabinet, away from sunlight and heat sources like the oven.

Each time the container is opened, oxygen sneaks in and can speed up rancidity, so try to keep only about one pound of product accessible at a time.

While Gerbs can be frozen, we don’t recommend it. Freezing and thawing can change the natural cell structure, which may affect texture and taste. Keep them cool, dry, and sealed tight for the best experience!
