Sweetened vs. no sugar added dried fruit
Gerbs carries two groups. Sweetened dried fruit has cane sugar (and sometimes fruit juice) added during processing to balance tartness and extend shelf life. No-sugar-added dried fruit is sweetened only by the fruit's own natural sugars, with no cane sugar or sweeteners added. Neither type uses artificial sweeteners. Both are available by variety and in mixed fruit blends.
Ways to use dried fruit
Dried fruit mixes into granola, trail mix, oatmeal, and baked goods. It tops yogurt and salads, folds into rice dishes and grain bowls, and works as a straight snack. Larger pieces like dried mango or apricots can be chopped and used as a date or raisin substitute in recipes.
How to store dried fruit
Keep dried fruit sealed in a cool, dry place. Most varieties stay soft and fresh for six to twelve months in the pantry; refrigerating extends shelf life further. Dried fruit that has dried out can be revived by soaking briefly in warm water before use.

Frequently asked questions
Are Gerbs dried fruits free of the top 14 allergens?
Yes. Every Gerbs dried fruit is processed on dedicated equipment that is free of all 14 major allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, shellfish, sesame, mustard, celery, lupin, and sulphites.
What does "no sugar added" mean on dried fruit?
No-sugar-added dried fruit contains only the natural sugars in the fruit itself. No cane sugar, honey, fruit juice concentrate, or other sweeteners are added during processing. The fruit is still sweet because fruit contains its own sugars. "No sugar added" is not the same as "low sugar" or "sugar-free."
Is Gerbs dried fruit gluten-free?
Yes. Gerbs dried fruit is made in a facility that is free of wheat and gluten, along with all other major allergens.
Do Gerbs dried fruits contain sulfites?
Gerbs dried fruit is processed on equipment that is free of sulphites. However, sulphites can be an inherent part of some dried fruit processing by the grower before the fruit reaches us. Check individual product labels for the specific sulphite status of each variety.
Can I use Gerbs dried fruit in baking?
Yes. Dried cranberries, raisins, and mango pieces work in muffins, breads, cookies, and granola bars the same way conventional dried fruit does. No special preparation is needed for most recipes.
